It is a good alternative not just for MainStage but musicians that want to have a Plan B in case they cannot use some software, tools or even controllers. It may have a learning curve for some, but once you understand it, you see its power and you benefit yourself from it. And it is for serious keyboardists that already understand some basic MIDI terms. It's not user friendly or very intuitive, You have to watch the video instructions to just get started. The only problem with Cantabile is that is too powerful, you can do pretty much everything you can imagine combining your instruments for live performance, but at the same time, Cantabile is not for trainees or for dummies. The fact that Windows users cannot install MainStage, is the main reason why I am recommending Cantabile. I recommend trying the Full Version: Cantabile Performer.Ĭantabile has a free version, by the way. And it's not that expensive as Logic Pro, Ableton or Cubase.ĭownload the Trial Version, and let me know what you think. It's not specialized on recording, but it is great for live performance it's in fact developed specially for serious keyboardists. Very comprehensive, and you can do whatever you want, control the split, transpose, velocity curve, anything imaginable. You can setup songs, set lists, song states, etc. With Cantabile, you can switch between songs really quick, without the waiting times of loading plugins, and still use your favorite plugins furthermore you can assign controls from your keyboard so you don't even need to touch the computer when playing live.
